APK decompilation versus a working API client

Source-like output helps explain an app. A tested client turns that knowledge into calls you can use.

What decompilation gives you

A decompiler reconstructs readable code from compiled files. Its output helps locate classes, endpoints, request models, and library calls.

Names can be changed, code can be incomplete, and native logic can sit outside the output. Treat it as evidence to investigate, not as a finished integration.

What a client must do

A client handles inputs, session state, headers, payloads, responses, and errors for the calls you need. It runs in your chosen environment.

A list of endpoints cannot perform login or refresh a token. The usable result is the workflow, not the number of strings recovered.

Define the acceptance tests

Write down the successful result for each call. Include paging, empty results, and expired sessions when those behaviors matter to your use case.

Check the returned fields. HTTP 200 with an error object is not a passing test.

Ask for a complete delivery

Get source code, setup steps, credential requirements, request examples, and recorded test results for the agreed calls. Keep the exact app build tied to those files.

Our public Wikipedia example shows how APK request definitions become a Python client and a Postman collection.

Compare the delivery before paying for work

An endpoint list gives paths and methods. A request collection adds examples that a person can send. A working client adds state, input handling, response parsing, and tests for the agreed workflow. Ask which of these is included.

For each promised call, ask for its setup requirement and passing result. “All endpoints found” is hard to test if the scope has no workflow list. “Search returns the required fields and pages correctly” gives both sides a clear check.

A delivery can include a device dependency. Have it named in the setup guide, with the supported environment and any required account state. A client tested on a device and one tested as a server script prove different operating setups.

Keep the client maintainable

Separate shared session and request code from each endpoint. Use named inputs and clear returned data. Keep secrets outside the code.

When an app update changes a call, the build identity and tests make the difference easier to find.
