React Native API extraction: JavaScript, Hermes, and native calls

Trace the bundle and native modules together to rebuild the calls behind a React Native app.

Identify the runtime and bundle

Inspect the package for JavaScript assets, runtime libraries, and native integration code. React Native’s Android integration documentation includes the React Native and Hermes dependencies.

Match several markers to the exact build. A bundled SDK or embedded React Native screen can explain only part of an app.

Separate readable JavaScript from compiled output

A bundle can contain minified JavaScript or compiled runtime output. Pick the analysis method from the artifact you have. File extensions alone do not describe the contents.

Keep the original bundle and its hash. Note which portions were read and which need runtime testing.

Follow native module boundaries

JavaScript can call native modules for networking, secure storage, encryption, or device checks. Stopping at the JavaScript layer leaves those dependencies out.

Track the input and output across each boundary. Rebuild the request flow from the parts that actually run for the chosen workflow.

Recreate sessions and errors

Map login, token refresh, required headers, request bodies, and response parsing. Test a fresh session instead of reusing a copied token.

Make errors useful to the person running the client. Name expired sessions, missing inputs, and server rejections so they can recover.

Keep a map across the layers

Write a short map from the UI action to the JavaScript function, then to any native module and the network request. Include the response parser on the return path. This map prevents a native crypto or session step from disappearing when the client is rebuilt.

Keep transport details separate from data models. The same app can use more than one networking path. Test the path used by the requested feature rather than assuming that every call shares one library.

If an asset or native file is absent, check the split-package set before calling it missing from the app. The complete input is part of a reliable framework and coverage finding.

Prove the result outside the app

Run each requested call in the client’s target environment. Compare meaningful returned fields with the app workflow and record the test conditions.

Deliver source, setup notes, a request collection when included, and tests for the agreed calls.
